Dear Readers's, Here is your Correction Excerpt for page 223 of "THE SECRET LIFE OF BABIES"

Birth

As discussed earlier, birth sequencing will have a similar tone to conception, implantation, and discovery. The way in which a Baby enters her Mother's pelvis can be likened to her conception. How She travels through her Mother's pelvis during labour can be considered a repeat of the dynamics of the days surrounding the time She implanted in her Mother's womb. And how She leaves her Mother's pelvis might be thought of as the energetic echo of when her Mother first found out she was pregnant.

In my work, I have discovered that patterns from the Family Field repeat or Recapitulate throughout a Baby's life and indeed the lives of most members of the family. Although I doubt that the Recapitulation patterns originate exclusively out of the first month of pregnancy, I find the first month of pregnancy to be one of the most eloquent windows through which to view their dynamics. The patterns in the Family Field begin as energetic; much like winds over an open sea. The Embryo will be shaped by them, but their impact is fluid and impermanent. Once birth begins, however, the compressive forces of contractions solidify the waves into the Baby's body, intensifying their depth and shape in her. Once She is born and engages in stages of development like lifting her head, the patterns deepen again. And once She begins to creep, sit, crawl and finally walk, the patterns will imprint even more deeply in her body to the point of being visible in her postural habits.

waIn a later section, you will read how to identify movements and behaviours Babies make and trace them to possible Recapitulating Family Field Patterns.

Although the impact of Family Field patterns can have negative consequences on a Baby's and her family's health, I do not believe our role as care-givers and Parents is to eradicate the patterns in the Family Field, as they appear to be one of our gifts in being human. I see our role rather as observers of the patterns with a responsibility to differentiate them. The technique for observing and differentiating Family Field patterns is described in later chapters and I have experienced great fulfillment both as a practitioner and as a patient by using them.
